Last week while visiting the farmers market I asked one of the vendors what his favorite bakery item was; his coconut bread ranked highest in his books. He mentioned its thick spongey texture being good fro french toast. I got a loaf and although I knew it was more of a breakfast bread I had to think of how to use it. I came up with cream cheese and berry stuffed french toast. Farmers market local strawberries and farmers market fresh bread really made the treat of french toast, extra special.
Yesterday I made homemade dill bread with an old family recipe and some fresh dill from the farmers market. Last week we got duck eggs at the farmers market and the woman mentioned them being good for baking, so I used them in the bread. My dill bread is indeed more moist and slightly richer tasting. When cooking and shopping at local fresh places such as the farmers market and buying local food, sometimes listening to the vendors recommendations and ideas can be really helpful.
